Justin Vaughan is a partner in Stone & Vaughan, PLLC and one of its co-founders. Mr. Vaughan’s practice covers a wide array of intellectual property matters. He provides counsel to businesses and individuals who are seeking to establish and/or protect their portfolio of creative ideas, which may include copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets. Mr. Vaughan helps clients to identify, register, license, or transfer their own intellectual property; he also counsels clients on avoiding liability for infringement of others’ rights.
Whenever conflict arises, Mr. Vaughan offers his clients a number of tools to achieve a cost-effective and desirable resolution. Having participated in mediations both as a party and as a trained mediator, Mr. Vaughan can help his clients negotiate favorable settlements. Should settlement talks fail, he can also vigorously pursue or defend litigation on his clients’ behalf.
Additionally, Mr. Vaughan provides low-cost, basic estate planning services to low- and middle-income individuals or families, people who are not presently subject to estate taxation. He believes that “estate planning shouldn’t have to be expensive just because it’s important.”
Prior to co-founding Stone & Vaughan, PLLC, Mr. Vaughan worked as in-house counsel for an educational services company, where he performed a variety of legal tasks: managing the IP portfolio, auditing compliance for use of third party IP, preparing discovery responses for litigation, preparing responses for credit card disputes and drafting and reviewing licensing agreements, company policies, and B2B contracts. Prior to that, Mr. Vaughan worked for the Law Offices of Evan Stone, where he drafted pleadings and motions relating to copyright litigation, free speech, and the internet. He also negotiated settlements and disputes over discovery requests.
During law school, Mr. Vaughan was a member of the Texas Wesleyan Law Review, where he served as Citations Editor for the publication. He also served as Vice President in the Intellectual Property Law Association. His work experience while in law school consisted of interning at the First Court of Appeals of Texas in Houston, researching and briefing changes in Texas criminal law under the direction of a federal district judge, researching and briefing civil rights legislation for a professor’s law review article, and performing teaching assistant duties for several legal research and writing classes.
In his free time, Justin enjoys sightseeing with his wife, playing baseball with his stepson, learning to play the piano, and rooting for all the Dallas-area sports teams (“except for the football team, because they are proximate cause of hair loss”).

A. I value the effort and energy that my clients put into their business and creative endeavors. I know that their time is at least as valuable as my time. To that end, I strive to provide great service by giving prompt, honest responses to any questions that my clients have.
